Intake questions
Hello all, I am working with my academic advising staff. I would like to solicit any resources on intake questions to guide discussions for advising and coaching when meeting with a new student. Does anyone have anything to share?

I use many principles of Appreciative Advising, with some modifications to fit the unique needs of our College of Health Sciences. I would also highly encourage you to explore Stress First Aid. There was an excellent presentation on the topic at the conference, and we have already begun implementing the program at our college.
Creighton University offers outstanding Stress First Aid resources and training opportunities that are well worth reviewing. I would be more than happy to talk with you about the program. We brought trainers from Creighton University to campus to facilitate a four-hour workshop with our Student Affairs team and several other key campus partners. Our hope is that this approach continues to grow and eventually becomes a campus-wide initiative.
As for specific intake questions, I have found AI to be an incredibly helpful tool for generating and refining those. It has been a great resource for developing questions that encourage meaningful conversations and help identify students' needs more effectively.
